About
My name is Alessandro Bahgat Shehata (contact me) and I’m a 25 years old guy from Milan, Italy who loves reading, traveling and, until graduated, gaming.
I developed a passion for computers when I still was at school. When I finally got my first PC (at 13) I suddendly realized that I didn’t want to become an archaeologist any longer.
Obviously, when I had to decide what to study at University, I chose Computer Science, and now I earn my paycheck by building software for an IT Consultancy company.
Although I belong to that small set of persons who are lucky enough to love their jobs, since I’m still able to learn something new each and every day, that is hardly enough to keep me satisfied.
Side projects
This is why I try to design and create new things with a friend of mine in our spare time (hello Daniele!
).
Novlet
Our first experiment, Novlet, is a web application dedicated to people who love writing. It is probably the first “big” project we entirely built by ourselves, and it taught me a lot (although, as you can see, we still had a lot to learn)
We launched Novlet in 2007, and I still remember the feeling we had when we started reading stories in languages we didn’t understand
BitLet
Our second project, BitLet, is a bittorrent client which runs in the browser (as a Java applet). It was quite simple if compared to Novlet, but since downloading torrents is significantly easier than creative writing, it attracts a lot more users.
Other stuff
We are currrently working on other projects. When they get completed, I’ll be glad to updated this page too
